Northwood Senior is part of the Northwood Schools Group. Having worked on the groups Broomwood Hall Upper School renovation project alongside Smith Brook Architects we were delighted to help the school renovate Northwood Senior. The building had previously been the home of the pre-prep (Garrods Road), so some key areas needed adapting for use as a secondary school for educational pupils, ages 11-16. The property has maintained many of its original art deco features, which we were keen to enhance during the renovation, but we also wanted to create a space where students would enjoy spending their time. A new common room was appointed and really is at the heart of the building and the school. We designed a new science lab, art studio as well as creating a new library area in the main entrance. The classrooms were also updated along with the locker rooms and and update of the previous dining room. Our biggest challenge was a tight timeline and installation during lockdown, but thankfully the school was able to open as planned in September 2020.
